Daily Picture: Batik Tulis (Hand-drawn Batik)

Above is the waxing process of Batik Tulis (hand-drawn Batik).

Batik Tulis making process is quite elaborate. It consists of a repeated process of waxing, dyeing, and drying. To give colors to the batik fabric, the batik artisans will need to dye them. Prior to dyeing the fabric with a specific color, they will have to cover the area/ pattern that shouldn't be dyed with the color by waxing them. They use canting needle to draw the wax lines/pattern. After the dyeing and drying process, they will wash the wax off and repeat the whole process again until all colors have been applied.

Needless to say, it takes time and heavy manual labor to create a piece of batik tulis.

Needless to say, I will never going to make one.

Barong Dance, together with Kecak Dance, are the most popular Balinese dances. Most of the tourists who go to Bali will spend time to watch the two dances. Well not true, the local tourists might decide to forego watching the dances and opt to go straight to Ubud for a feast of Babi Guling Oka and Bebek Bengil. To each his own.

Cinta Laura: Why I have to stop making fun of her ... sigh

Cinta Laura used to be my favorite celebrity.

For those of you who aren't familiar with her, here is a video clip of her, a list of her quotes, and a website that helps you to talk like cinta. I recommend you to go to those links to get to know her better.

I just truly and deeply love the existence of Cinta Laura. I love everything about her, including her incomparable acting skills and her wacky antics and remarks.

Now, here is one person whi I can ridicule and make fun of without feeling any guilt creeping on me afterward. Heck, with her ridiculously high self-esteem, she probably doesn't even care if I make fun of her. And believe me, being able to do this is such a good thing for your psychological being. Whenever I'm feeling down, I watch one of her sinetron and it puts a smile on my face. The next thing I know, I'm feeling better and ready to face the world.

But those days are over and here are the two reasons why:

1) She just released a single which isn't half bad. It is a decent song, not my cup of tea, but a decent pop song. It is somewhat like a slowed version of Britney's 90's pop song. Plus, it has a catchy refrain.

2) That is bad enough, but it gets worse. I just found out that Cinta Laura has just opened her 11th free school. Turns out, every month she sets aside Rp.30 juta (=$3250 approx.) from her income to build free schools.

Wow, make that double wow! Cinta Laura is a philanthropist! Sure, she gets a good press from her noble act, but I don't think the public will care whether she does or does not care about children's education in Indonesia. So it means that Cinta Laura, who is only 15, already cares about people's welfare.

Great, just great.

WHY Cinta Laura, why ... ????? How about my welfare Cinta Laura? My psychological well being? Don't you care about me?

Note: Peyo is actually glad that Cinta Laura is a decent human being. Peyo is now open for recommendation of any other celebrities that can bring benefits to Peyo's spiritual health. Aside from Britney Spears and Paris Hilton of course, sadly Peyo no longer holds any interests in them anymore.

Alto's Ultimate "Why-the-heck-is-this-song-playing-in-my-itunes" Moment

You know what ...I've been wondering lately (isn't that surprising -__-).
Imagine that you're in a relaxing mode and in the middle of listening to songs in your itunes's list, and then suddenly out of nowhere this song showed up and made you say " O damnnnn...how come I have this piece of ^&*%$ in my list???"

Unfortunately, it happened to me and that bloody song was.....

Movie Quotes: Pulp Fiction - Ezekiel 25:17

Pulp Fiction is filled with great dialogues and great quotes. But for my very first movie quotes post, I will have to start with the Ezekiel monologue. And since it has more umph when Jules himself says the words, you just have to see the video as well.

There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Changcuters

I would like to profess my current love to the Changcuters! That is, of course, until I find another thing to get excited about. The band is a breath of fresh air to the Indonesian music scene that is currently a bit one dimensional. (Debatable, I know, just play along please. Thank you very much.)


Their single: I Love U, Bibeh is currently no 1 on 'Peyo's Must Sing' song list whenever I go to karaoke. A great list by the way, they should feel very honored.

Standing up, I sing the song (strong suspicion of out of tune singing), while jumping around and imitating the act of a rocking guitar master. A rocking bass master that is, I always wanted to play bass. The hand movements might go a little bit complicated as I have a real tambourine on my left and a microphone on my right while playing the fake bass guitar. But, the talented peyo always manages to pull it off. Only my second post and we've already established the fact that I'm skilled in sleeping and playing fake bass. Awesome!

I digress. My point is, Changcuters is all about unabashed fun rock and roll music. Whenever their song is played in public, I can see that everyone starts bopping their heads while singing along the cheesy hilarious lyrics. Some manage to keep it inside their heads, while some involuntarily blurt it out. Now, if that is not the evidence of rock and roll goodness, I don't know what is.

Need more convincing? Well, just look at them. These, internet people, are the faces that guarantee a fun rock and roll time.

The monkey on your back is the latest trend

Since this is the first post by yours truly, I thought it will be appropriate to give you readers a glimpse of myself.



Shown above is pretty much how I look whenever I'm not sleeping. I yawn. You see, sleeping is what I do best. I've been practicing the trade for the majority of my life. Not only that, I also love it! Given the option of socializing or watching DVDs on my bed with my pajamas on (which obviously is a prereq for a good long sleep), you betcha I would choose the latter!

Now that you get to know me a bit, I'm sure you can't wait to see what I have to write next... After all, people can't wait to hear more from an antisocial geek. Yay!
