All is well

There was a couple walking in front of me on the parking lot last night. I was too immersed with my own thoughts to spend anytime nitpicking their conversation or fashion choice.

I'm hungry.
I hope dinner will be good.
All I want to do is to have a long sleep after dinner.
Great... my life is so exciting.

Suddenly though, my train of thoughts stopped. The guy grabbed an empty glass on the ground.

Wow, never in a million years I would consider people in Surabaya to be so environmentally conscious.
I wouldn't even do it myself.
If I do that, I would get my hands dirty, and I'm not sure if I bring my antibacterial with me.
It would contaminate my hand, and later my face because I always touch my face with my hands.
I can't pick it up, I'll get acne if I do that!!!
Man... the guy is a better person than me.
He doesn't even look like a nice guy.
Should I not be so quick to judge?
Maybe the world is not as bad as I think.
Probably, there are good people in this world and I'm just too cynical to see them.
Maybe I should reconsider how I view this world.
Have I been wrong all this time?

My train of thoughts stopped again. The guy has thrown the empty glass to the ground next to my car.

What the heck dude?!?!?!
Dude... you totally disappointed me.
You just crushed my faith to the world.
Man... the world is as I suspected.
I was right.
It's a good thing I guess, rewiring your view of the world is a very tiring process.
Yeah, it's a good thing.
Sigh, I guess, in a way ...
All is well.

Yupe, the world IS in fact as bad as we think it is.

What are we still doing here then?

excerpt from Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions:

... It had given him a life not worth living, but it had also given him an iron will to live. This was a common combination on the planet Earth ...

If only we can tweak the level of our will to live, maybe we don't have to be here. You find your suicidal spot first, and we'll talk more.

My gosh, if people don't know us, they might think that we're thinking of committing suicide together.

Well, even if people know us, they might still think that we're planning on communal suicide.

Oh well. Call me.
